Year 4 were lucky enough to visit the Tower of London this half term. The trip built on their learning in history where they have been studying the Tudors. After a long journey on the tube from Stonebridge Park to Tower Hill, the children were excited to finally see the Tower.
Whilst they were there, they met with a Beefeater, otherwise known as the Yeomen Warders of Her Majesty’s Royal Palace and Fortress the Tower of London. The children passed on some writing that they had completed in school and she told them all about the history of the tower and the many people who had been imprisoned there, including two of King Henry VIII’s wives, Anne Boleyn and Katherine Howard, who were both imprisoned and later executed.
Later they went to explore the armoury in the White Tower where they saw the armour and were given a guided tour by one of the armourers who work in the Tower.
The children had a fantastic day, bringing their history learning alive!
