At Brentfield all children and staff belong to one of our four houses. In 2018 we established our house system. Children decided to name our houses after four inspirational people.
Our houses are named after Malala Yousafzai, Stephen Hawking, Mo Farah and David Attenborough.
Each house is led by two House Captains who are elected by pupils through a whole school election in the Autumn term. Children from year 6 write manifestos, which are shared with the school, outlining why they believe that they are the best candidate to represent their house as well as outlining what they plan to do throughout they year. House elections are held and children vote on who their next captains should be. House Captains are responsible for organising inter house competitions throughout the year, motivating children to gain house points, collating house points at the end of each week and organising fundraising events in support of our nominated charities.
All children go ‘above and beyond’ to gain house points for their house. Children can also gain house points by demonstrating our Brentfield BRAVE values. House points are collected each week with the winning house winning additional time on the play equipment. At the end of the term the winning house attend a house celebration.
During PE children wear their house PE kit and compete against each other. In our annual sports days each house competes against each other. Congratulations to Hawking House who have been the winners for the last two years.
