School Uniform

At Brentfield we believe that school uniform plays a valuable role in contributing to the ethos of a school and setting an appropriate tone.  We believe that school uniform is important for the following reasons:

  • It helps to foster a sense of belonging to the school community.
  • It enables a child to not only identify with but also be seen as a member of the school.
  • It helps children to understand that school is important and should be taken seriously.
  • It assures both parent and teacher that the child is wearing clothes that are smart and sensible, and helps remove the potential problems that fashion and competition could bring about.

The wearing of school uniform is a key school rule and our uniform code is strongly enforced.  The way our children present themselves speaks volumes about the expectations of parents and the school.  As we all have high expectations, we would like the wearing of uniform to reflect this. The colours identified below are the only colours to be worn.  Staff at the school will speak to children who are not wearing the correct uniform and parents will be written to if the uniform rules are not adhered to.

  Boys Girls
Winter
  • Grey school trousers only
  • White polo shirt
  • Brentfield royal blue school jumper
  • The school fleece jacket is optional and should not be worn as an indoor item of clothing.
  • Grey pinafore dress, skirt or trousers only.

(All skirts and dresses should be an appropriate length and style which allow girls to sit comfortably on the floor)

  • White polo shirt
  • Brentfield royal blue school jumper
  • Grey tights or white socks

Hijabs should be plain  Navy blue only – no sparkly details or patterns. The school fleece jacket is optional and should not be worn as an indoor item of clothing.

Summer (additional options)

  • As above but smart grey shorts are suitable
  • As above but girls are given the option of wearing summer dress (short sleeved blue checked dress)
  • Plain white socks or tights

Hijabs should be plain  white only – no sparkly details or patterns.

We have consulted with some of our older children who have said they would like to wear a navy blue hijab in the winter but change to a white one in the summer because of the heat.

Shoes

  • Black, plain, low-heeled shoes
  • There should not be any colours on the shoes or shoelaces.

No high heels or open toes sandals

P.E. kit

  • House coloured P.E T-Shirt
  • Plain black tracksuit trousers (not leggings)
  • Trainers

There should be NO alternatives to this. Football shirts cannot be worn

Please have all clothes clearly named.
  • No jewellery should be work. Plain studs can be worn providing your child can take them out when needed.
  • Extreme hairstyles are strongly discouraged – shaven, logos and designs, stripes, Mohicans, dyed hair (including highlights) and excessive beads.
  • Any hair, which reaches shoulder length, must be tied back with scrunchies or hairbands in school colours.
  • Non-school uniform jumpers are not acceptable.
  • All children need a Brentfield book bag and PE bag

We have tried to keep the costs to a minimum. Branded jumpers, cardigans, book bags and PE bags are available from Rumbles 598 Wembley High Road HA0 2AF. The rest of the school uniform is available from Supermarkets at a lower cost.
