Year 1 have been learning about seasonal changes and animals including humans as part of their science topic this term. So they could look at the changes that are taking place now we have moved into autumn, they visited Sufra edible garden on St Raphael’s estate this week.
They walked from school to Sufra, making sure that they stayed safe, particularly when crossing over the busy roads between our school and the garden.
When they arrived, they were very excited to see the plants that the volunteers at Sufra had grown. They also saw the chickens who live there and saw the eggs that they had laid that very morning.
As well as looking at the variety of crops that were in the garden, they also investigated the habitats that the many insects and mini beasts live in.
All of the children had a fantastic time and would like to thank the volunteers who welcomed them to the garden for showing them around.
Hopefully, the children will now be able to start growing their own crops in the new woodland area in our school!
